Happy Rescue Stories Friday Friends!!
If you've been following along with our team, you know that during these ruff times, animal shelters and organizations have been struggling to maintain enough funding and supplies to support the hundreds of adoptable dogs/pets in their shelters. We are doing everything we can to help their efforts!
At Fit & Go Pets we play an important role (sometimes big, sometimes small) in helping dog rescue parents and their dogs as they go through their rescue journey and adapt to a new life. We see, firsthand, entire lives changed for the better. We feel this role we serve is a big part of who we are as a company, and our duty, to help our community and help as many dogs and pawrents as possible. Learn how you can help at the bottom of this blog post.
And without further ado, we are so excited to introduce you to our March rescue story - meet Carrie!
MEET CARRIE!
- Rescue date: April 2020
- Breed: American Bulldog
- Approximate age: Approx 5 years old
- Personality: Carrie is a super sweet and loving girl that loves to give free kisses- especially when you need them the most. She’s also very passionate and vocal when she plays with her favorite friends.
- Loves to: She loves going to fit and go pets to pick new boyfriends, though her true love is Ernie- a sweet boy she met at the shelter and who also goes to fit and go!
Carrie's Mom Tells Us Her Rescue Story:
I was volunteering at the humane society and fell in love with Carrie as soon as I met her. I didn’t think I could adopt her because I live in an apartment and she has a lot of energy. But when everything closed down because of the pandemic I knew I had to find a way to make it work- I missed her too much. So with a lot of walks and fit and go playtime, she was able to rescue me!
The Greatest Lesson:
The healing power of unconditional love
A Piece of Advice:
Watching your rescue come into their true personality is truly a treasure. With lots of patience and consistency, old fears and reactions do shed, and your bond becomes stronger.
What I Wish I Had Known:
It is a serious commitment to look after a fur baby’s wellbeing. I wish I had known sooner that doggie daycare families like fit and go pets exist, where Carrie has blossomed even more with the power of the pack.
We know you have a wonderful dog rescue story. Tell us your story so we can
