Hurricane Milton Update

Hurricane Milton Update

As Hurricane Milton approaches, we're closely monitoring updates from the National Weather Service to ensure the safety and well-being of your pets. The storm, now a Category 5, is expected to bring strong winds, heavy rain, and localized flooding to Miami-Dade, with rainfall totals reaching up to 15 inches in some areas. While the hurricane is set to make landfall near Tampa Bay by Wednesday, residents in Miami-Dade should prepare for potential traffic disruptions and power outages.

    Fit & Go Pets’ Preparations

At Fit and Go Pets, our top priority is your pets' safety. Here’s what we’re doing to ensure their well-being during the storm:

    • Reinforced Facility: Our facility is equipped with commercial-grade hurricane impact windows and doors to minimize storm noise, such as thunder and lightning.
    • Backup Power: We have a generator to ensure the A/C and refrigerator remain operational in the event of a neighborhood power outage.
    • Emergency Staffing Plan: Our dedicated team is ready to stay on-site overnight if necessary, ensuring your pets are safe and comfortable throughout any situation.

What Pet Owners Need to Know

    • Plan Ahead: With the storm approaching, traffic may be heavy. We encourage you to drop off or pick up your pets earlier to avoid delays, as transportation schedules may change with little notice.

    • Hours of Operation: Our hours on Wednesday and Thursday remain the same for now, but may adjust based on the storm's progress. Please stay tuned for updates.

    • Transportation: Our transportation service will be suspended on Wednesday. Thursday's service remains unchanged for now but may be adjusted based on the storm's progress. Please stay tuned for updates.

    • Delayed Responses: Responses to chats may take longer than usual due to increased activity. We appreciate your understanding.

    • Calming Products for Nervous Dogs: If your dog is anxious about storms and you don't have their medication on hand, we offer CBD products for sale. Let us know if you’d like to explore this option.
